Sarah | Licensed Psychologist, PSYCHOLOOG NIP, Integrative Psychotherapist i.t.

Introduction

Hi. Welcome here.
Every human life carries complexity. When we experience trauma, hurt, or unmet needs, we often learn to adapt in the only ways available to us. We may hide parts of ourselves that once felt unacceptable and develop protective parts that shield us from further pain. Some of these parts carry our wounds through anxiety, depression, perfectionism, overcontrol, people-pleasing, shame or emotional withdrawal. And sometimes what once helped us survive can later feel limiting or exhausting. Therapy can be a curious, respectful and non-judgmental place to bring clarity and compassion to these parts of you, understand their message, and reconnect with the more spontaneous and authentic parts of yourself. I am on your side and by your side to help you understand yourself, what is needed and important for your life now, and to support you in moving beyond patterns that are no longer helpful towards more integrity, self-respect, joy, or what is needed to feel like yourself.

Whether you are facing long-standing difficulties or navigating a challenging period, your needs deserve to be seen, understood, and supported.

I am a psychologist registered with the Nederlands Institute of Psychologists. I hold a MSc in Clinical Psychology, and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist i.t. This is a safe space for neurodiverse and LGBTQ+ folks.

A bit about me

Having always been a deeply empathic and introspective person, I believe that mental health is key to reaching our full potential and living in alignment. My journey began in a small town in Transylvania, Romania, and brought me to the Netherlands, where I have experienced the challenges and rewards of navigating expat life and cultural differences while trying to find and build meaning.
I studied and built a practice in the Netherlands in the last 6 years, and continue to study and learn every day with my clients and colleagues, and the community of people I have around me.
As an English and Romanian-speaking psychologist, I've connected with people from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and all walks of life, which has deepened my wisdom, openness and adaptability. Throughout it all, my own mental health journey has shown me the power of deep connection with myself and the therapeutic process.

I also believe in the power of play and joy as essential parts of life, which can bring much relief and empowerment in today's world, so I enjoy dancing, painting, cooking, bike rides in the sun, and anything that brings out the happy child in me.

Online therapy

I use the electronic patient dossier Epos-Zilos which securely stores client data and communication, and complies with GDPR standards. For online sessions, I use Zoom or Google Meets.

Specialisations and Expertises

My approach is evidence-based and integrative, paying attention to the mind, body, and emotions. Although I am grounded in Schema Focused Therapy, I adapt to your needs and what arises in the process, drawing from CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, EMDR, and creative therapy.
I also offer ADHD coaching, focusing on practical strategies, helping you understand how your brain works and how to build an environment that supports you.

I offer a warm, collaborative, and structured space, whether you come with a specific issue or simply need room to talk, feel, and understand yourself better. Building trust is the first step in our work together. I meet you where you are, with curiosity, patience, and respect.

Starting therapy, we work in a structured way:

1. Brief consultation to see if we are a good fit
Then you receive a form to write some information about yourself and your thoughts on the reason for starting therapy.

2. First session is an Intake session
You then receive some questionnaires to help us understand and measure where you are starting from and clarify your goals.
I write a brief therapy plan based on our talk.

3. Second session, we begin therapy. We formulate your goals and evaluate the therapy plan to create it collaboratively.

4. Periodic evaluations to evaluate the therapeutic process and whether the goals you have set are being met.

5. Come to a natural end and take some sessions to reflect and intergrate our work.

Most common issues I support people with:

- Anxiety
- Trauma
- Relationships/attachment
- Self-esteem
- Perfectionism/hypercontrol/high-achievers

Fees

The first session lasts 60 minutes and costs €110. Based on that, I create a therapy plan that we talk about in the following sessions.
All other individual sessions last 50 minutes and cost
€87.
EMDR sessions last 90 minutes and cost
€120.

Some international insurances cover (a part of) the session fees. Please check this yourself and know that you need a GP referral in advance to apply for reimbursement.

If you'd like to work together but my rate is out of reach right now, please still reach out. I have some sliding scale spots and would be happy to discuss the possible options with you.
