I am Barbara, a registered psychologist (NIP), coach, and sleep & balance expert. Specialized in: Sleep problems, Stress-related issues, Burnout, Menopausal symptoms, Low self-esteem, Feeling out of sorts, Repeating patterns, Workplace problems, Walk coaching, Outdoor sessions, Stress, Anxiety, and overthinking.

 

You are welcome for individual therapy and/or coaching with me, either inside the office or walking in the forest.

 

My practice is located in Den Dolder, centrally positioned between Bilthoven, Zeist and Soest.



What can you expect from me?


A warm and personal approach and setting, scientifically grounded therapy, and someone who helps you progress step by step in the right direction.


I see therapy as a collaborative process where we explore the current obstacles preventing you from making changes. Above all, we examine what is necessary to steer back in the right direction. I aim to open your eyes to view things differently, encourage you to experiment with new behaviors, and help you better understand what you need.

I am not a English native speaker, good to know. 

Approach

 

My approach is rooted in starting with the present moment, addressing the "here and now." We initiate concrete steps towards improvement, recognizing that even small changes can yield significant results. In the intervals between our sessions, you are typically engaged in practical exercises and reflective activities.


At times, we may find it beneficial to explore deeper layers and reflect on the past, unraveling any potentially inaccurate conclusions you may have drawn about yourself.


Clients often describe my approach as accessible, with a positive and empathetic communication style. I am known for being optimistic, goal-oriented, humorous, direct and flexible.



What You Need

In terms of methodology, I tailor my approach to your specific needs, always incorporating scientifically supported techniques. Cognitively-oriented behavior therapy is a key aspect, involving the exploration of both behavior and thoughts to enhance your understanding and control over your emotional world.

I also integrate solution-focused techniques, fostering awareness of positive exceptions and making the therapeutic process enjoyable, contributing to the growth of your self-confidence.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is another method I frequently employ. This approach helps you cease resistance and guides you towards living in harmony with your core values.


Additionally, I conduct sessions outdoors in nature on a regular basis. This natural setting facilitates stepping away from the routines of daily life, allowing you to connect with your emotions and swiftly delve into the core of your experiences. Online therapy

I also provide online therapy services. The sessions are similar to traditional in-person sessions but conducted through video calls instead of meeting face-to-face. The initial introduction and acquaintance are done through a phone call.

Specialisations

I am a prominent sleep psychologist, dedicated to train other health care professionals in effectively addressing sleep problems. After treatment at my practice by cognitive behaviour therapy, 85% of clients with sleep issues leave with a satisfactory sleep pattern they are content with, and 95% of clients experience improvement.


Furthermore, I am specialized in treating burnout, often intertwined with sleep problems, as well as other work-related challenges, such as achieving a healthy work-life balance. I also offer support for grief processing, mild depression, or anxiety issues.


The number of sessions varies depending on the specific issues but typically ranges from five to fifteen sessions

Fees

In 2024 a fee of €115 per individual session applies


I am affiliated with the Dutch Federation of Healthcare (NFG), which often allows for reimbursement through supplementary health insurance. You can check the NFG website to see if you qualify for reimbursement. The advantage of this reimbursement method is that it does not affect your own risk, and you do not need a referral from your general practitioner.

 

If you are unsure whether you qualify for reimbursement, contact your health insurance and provide Barbara's AGB code: 09046432. Specify that it involves 'complementary psychosocial counseling.'


If you do not have supplementary insurance, you can choose to pay for the treatment yourself. Alternatively, in many cases, employers are willing to reimburse sessions (partially), especially when it concerns burnout, sleep problems, or other work-related issues.


For coaching, you often have a budget from your employer to use. Or, as a self-employed individual, these expenses may result in tax benefits.
